Highlighting how the lack of a common definition of overdiagnosis contributes to inconsistent estimates of overdiagnosis in health care delivery, this commentary describes the challenges to establishing this definition and suggests a nomenclature to address these barriers. A recent AHRQ WebM&M interview and perspective discussed overuse of medical care as a patient safety problem.
