This survey examined the extent of workplace violence in the setting of anesthesiology practice. About 20% of respondents described experiencing physical violence at work at least once; very few were reported. The authors highlight impacts including increased risk of burnout, burden on health care systems because of decreased retention in practice, and ultimately, less access to care for patients.
