Detecting adverse drug reactions on paediatric wards: intensified surveillance versus computerised screening of laboratory values.
Haffner S, von Laue N, Wirth S, Thurmann PA. Drug Saf. 2005;28:453-464.

Using two different methodological approaches to collect data, an intensified surveillance system and computer-assisted screening, the authors evaluated the types and incidence of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in a pediatric hospital population. The authors determined that ADRs occur as frequently in pediatric patients as in adult patients and that the intensified surveillance system found more severe ADRs.
