Effectiveness of computerized provider order entry with dose range checking on prescribing errors.

The investigators queried pharmacy information systems on the use of three types of medications and their antidotes before and after use of computerized physician order entry (CPOE) and found that the CPOE reduced inappropriate prescribing fourfold.
