Retained foreign bodies after surgery.
Lincourt AE, Harrell A, Cristiano J, Sechrist C, Kercher K, Heniford BT. J Surg Res. 2007;138:170-174.

The authors performed a case control analysis of medical records for a 10-year period to identify risk factors associated with retained foreign bodies (RFB). They found that concurrent major surgeries and incorrect instrument and sponge counts played a role in the incidence of RFB at their hospital.
