An observational analysis of surgical team compliance with perioperative safety practices after crew resource management training.
France DJ, Leming-Lee S, Jackson T, Feistritzer NR, Higgins MS. Am J Surg. 2008;195:546-553.

This follow-up study directly observed surgical teams after they had participated in a crew resource management (CRM) training initiative. The investigators found poor adherence to patient safety principles emphasized in the CRM training, including performance of surgical time outs. Formal evaluation of CRM programs in health care was strongly recommended in a prior review of the effectiveness of teamwork training.
