This study examined the utility of a surveillance system that monitors laboratory and pharmacy data in hospitalized patients, and discovered that the system was effective in identifying adverse drug events. Furthermore, investigators implemented a process for an individual reviewer to act on these identified events, potentially reducing their incidence.
