The authors compare the efficacy of two data-mining strategies with traditional methods in flagging potential adverse drug reactions. While the tested algorithms showed promise to improve existing pharmacovigilance strategies, no clear benefit was demonstrated over traditional methods for the majority of drug-event combinations.
