This study found that a significant number of surgical trainees, particularly senior residents, believe duty-hour restrictions are an impediment to education. In fact, the same respondents expressed a desire to work more hours. The authors advocate for greater flexibility in work hour mandates for different levels of trainees to better match goals and needs.
