This survey of residency program directors found a mixed reaction to the 2011 duty hour regulations. Although directors generally supported duty hour restrictions, they expressed strong opposition to limiting first-year residents to 16-hour shifts and—mirroring prior research—felt the regulations were negatively impacting resident education.
