Jonville-Béra AP, Béra F, Autret-Leca E. Are incorrectly used drugs more frequently involved in adverse drug reactions? A prospective study. Eur J Clin Pharmacol. 2005;61(3):231-6.
The authors analyzed 182 reported adverse drug reactions (ADRs) for adherence to Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC) recommendations. They found that 44.5% of these ADRs involved at least one incorrectly used drug and further suggest that some ADRs might be avoidable if SPC guidelines are followed.
