Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) are tools that can enhance diagnostic, prescription, and care delivery processes. This narrative review examined the challenges, developments, and progress of CDSS in six areas of focus including usability, implementation, and integration. The authors explore how CDSS can take health care toward higher quality care through improved data sharing to support effective decision-making.
