This review analyzes findings from 12 previously published studies and concludes that the evidence base for CPOE as a prescribing error prevention tool in the hospital setting is still limited. The authors highlight limitations and point out the modest sample sizes and variable study designs as well as the role that decision support may play in given hospital systems.
