Online courses enable employees to obtain training across communities that face financial challenges or are geographically dispersed. This commentary describes the development and implementation of an electronic risk management course in Spain to help participants learn how to design patient safety improvement projects. The projects developed were disseminated in a free online database. The authors found their approach to be well-received and highlight team development and transferability of the project results as elements of their program that facilitated engagement and success.
