The epidemiology of adverse events and medical errors has been broadly characterized among different patient groups including hospitalized patients, older patients, and patients in the intensive care unit, but less is known about cardiology patients. In this cross-sectional study of adult cardiology outpatients at a single Japanese teaching hospital over a 10-month period, researchers found that adverse events were common and they were mostly adverse drug events.
