Epidemiology, comparative methods of detection, and preventability of adverse drug events.

The investigators compared self-reporting and active surveillance methods for detecting adverse drug events (ADEs) at a 360-bed hospital in the United Arab Emirates. Active surveillance yielded more reports of ADEs and was helpful in identifying areas of improvement.
