Though electronic health record (EHR) data is not always accurate, federal pay-for-performance programs rely on that data to determine reimbursement. The authors evaluated how their institution's EHR measured a common quality metric—statin prescription for coronary artery disease. Manual chart review determined that most EHR-detected prescribing failures were clinically correct care.
