Harm to pregnant patients is a growing patient safety concern. This data analysis from the AHRQ Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project found severe maternal morbidity increased from 2016 to 2021. The results detail socioeconomic data on segments of the maternal inpatient population. Common acquired conditions identified include hemorrhage, sepsis, and respiratory and renal complications.
