Previous research has identified disparities in patient safety events among hospitalized children. This retrospective study of over 85,000 hospitalizations between January 2012 and December 2019 examined inequities in adverse events (AEs) and other patient safety events (PSEs), such as near misses or no-harm events, in pediatric patients. Findings show that Latinx, non-Latinx Black/African American, publicly insured, and non-privately/non-publicly insured children had higher rates of PSEs (driven by medication, fluid, and line-tube related events).
