Operating room black boxes are a way to capture video, audio, and other data in real time to prevent and analyze errors. This article presents the results of two studies on operating room staff's perspectives of black boxes. Quality improvement, patient safety, and objective case review were seen as the greatest potential benefits, while decreased psychological safety and loss of privacy (both staff and patient) were the most common concerns.
