This systematic review of 95 articles summarizes guidance for surgeons about personal protective equipment (PPE) in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The review discusses virus transmission during surgery, types of perioperative PPE, equipment shortages, rationing, as well as innovative solutions to produce additional PPE.
