Healthcare-associated infections continue to challenge inpatient safety. This data analysis from the AHRQ Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project examined data from 38 states reflecting the prevalence, hospitalization, length of stay, in-hospital mortality rate, and median hospital costs associated with five types of common HAIs, including central line, catheter and ventilator-associated infections.
