Risky procedures by nurses in hospitals: problems and (contemplated) refusals of orders by physicians, and views of physicians and nurses: a questionnaire survey.

This study explored whether nurses and physicians encountered any problems with refusal to perform certain procedures. More than three-fourths had not, but those who did cited a recognized lack of expertise or disagreement regarding the appropriateness of the intervention as the reason for refusal.
