Sleep deprivation and error in nurses who work the night shift.

Early studies on how fatigue affects clinical trainees formed some of the basis behind duty hour restrictions for resident physicians. This study surveyed nurses who worked night shifts in three hospitals and found that more than half reported being sleep deprived. These nurses were more likely to make patient care errors.
