Diagnostic errors are a common preventable cause of medical errors and, thus, are frequently a topic for research. This article describes updated Standards for Reporting Diagnostic Accuracy Studies (STARD), a checklist for researchers when writing diagnostic research reports. The authors provide an example and explanation of each of the 30 checklist items.
