Target-focused medical emergency team training using a human patient simulator: effects on behaviour and attitude.
Wallin C-J, Meurling L, Hedman L, et al. Target-focused medical emergency team training using a human patient simulator: effects on behaviour and attitude. Med Educ. 2007;41(2):173-80.
This study evaluated a course for medical students in initial management of the trauma patient in the emergency department setting, using a human patient simulator and crew resource management (CRM) methods. Students' teamwork skills improved after the training, but the study did not assess if this resulted in superior care. A prior review of CRM studies in health care concluded that more rigorous evaluations are needed of the effect of CRM and simulation strategies on provider behavior.
