Storytelling can share knowledge and build community among physicians. However, if clinicians communicate their stories without appropriate sensitivity, they may seem disrespectful and dismissive to concerns of patients and other health care workers. This commentary advocates for the use of mindful storytelling to develop collegial relationships and enhance empathy within teams and among peers to improve how clinicians respond to negative care experiences.
