This study interviewed providers about patient safety events involving immigrant patients to identify key patterns for future research around disparities. The patterns discovered included inappropriate responses to objective characteristics of immigrant patients, misunderstandings around illness perceptions and expectations, and inappropriate care because of stereotypes.
