Highlighting concerns about over-reliance on laboratory tests to form diagnoses, this commentary discusses two case examples to illustrate the value of history-taking and conducting physical exams in determining a correct diagnosis. The authors call for faculty and curriculum development to ensure that students have the skills to perform these key clinical activities.
