Disrespectful behaviors in health care can result in burnout and poor teamwork. Highlighting the unique role of residents as both learners and teachers, this commentary explores factors that contribute to perception of mistreatment and suggests that institutions train residents to build resilience and develop leadership skills to make learners feel safe.
