Relationship between job burnout, psychosocial factors and health care–associated infections in critical care units.

This study found that burnout symptoms like cynicism were linked to poor team communication, which was prospectively related to higher incidence of health care–associated infections. These findings provide further rationale to address burnout in order to enhance patient safety.
