Unconscious bias influences how health care professionals care for patients and how patients perceive their care. This study asked Internet-recruited volunteers to evaluate the severity of a medical error and what consequences would be appropriate for male and female physicians that were either Indian or White ethnicity. Researchers found that physician race and gender can influence how individuals evaluate physicians.
