The Joint Commission has released a sentinel event alert focused on reducing disruptive behavior in health care to enhance clinician well-being and safety. This commentary discusses personality traits and environmental factors that may contribute to disruptive behaviors among physicians. The authors suggest awareness-building, leadership actions, and support programs to address conditions that perpetuate disruptive behaviors.
