The focus on reducing diagnostic error has led to a growing interest in understanding cognition and how it affects decision making. Spotlighting the need for further education on cognitive bias in undergraduate medical curriculum, this commentary provides an introduction to how cognitive bias affects health care delivery and reviews debiasing strategies for the student clinician to manage the impact of bias on their practice.
