This study determined that, while high-fidelity medical simulation offers an attractive mechanism for supplementing traditional didactic teamwork training, clear benefit from the added approach is not clear. Investigators combined didactic programs previously described with an intervention focused on putting participants through a series of simulated clinical scenarios. Behaviors of the two groups were rated by outside expert observers using a validated scoring scale. The actual participants did rate the simulation exercises as useful, suggesting a potential role for simulation as an educational method.
