Handovers and weekend care are associated with patient safety concerns. This quality improvement project describes the use of plan-do-study-act methods to develop and revise a surgical handoff process between teams over the weekend. The standardized form was easy to implement and use, and the authors suggest that it helped teams save time and enhanced information sharing during handoffs.
