Researchers describe the use of a social network analysis tool to examine the impact of nursing staff information sharing and advice networks on several patient safety outcomes, including medication errors, falls, and hospital-acquired pressure ulcers, across 24 medical and surgical inpatient units at 3 hospitals. They conclude that such an approach may provide supervisors with useful information for system-level change.
