Prior research has shown that parents can be valuable partners in safety, identifying adverse events and errors not captured by other means. Investigators studied the implementation of a parent escalation of care process, Calling for Help (C4H), in a pediatric hospital. Although there was support for the process among staff, barriers included a low level of parent awareness of the process and concerns about parents' abilities to accurately identify clinical concerns.
